Traders and Travelers
Goods carried by travelers are subject to the following procedures: All travelers and people entering into the Sate should disclose cash funds in their possession exceeding (100.000) AEDs or equivalent in other currencies and travel checks, as well as they shall fill in disclosure form prepared for such procedure according to system of Cash Funds Disclosure applied within the State. People less than 18 years shall not bring in funds exceeding stated amount, and funds above stated amount in their possession shall be added to accompanying superiors' funds within allowed limit.
Second:Quantities and value of Goods for Commercial Purposes:
Ordinary Customs procedures shall be applied on goods carried by traveler in quantities specified for commercial purposes after preparation of Customs data and defining value, duties and additional procedures on such goods carried and intended to be entered into country.
Third:Additional Quantities:
- Customs Tariffs shall be applied on the additional quantities and values exceeding exemption limits.
- In the event that Customs Tariffs are not paid, the additional quantities shall be distrained under distraint receipt for 30 days renewable for other additional 30 or 60 days upon request by traveler and approval by the Chairman of the respective Customs port or its deputy, until traveler departs or pay applicable duties
- After termination of distraint period indicated above, distrained goods shall be sold in public auction as per approved procedures.
Fourth:Exemption of Personal baggage and presents carried by travelers:
As per provisions of item (B) in article (103) of the system of the GCC Common Customs Law, controls and terms and conditions for exemption of personal baggage and presents carried by travelers shall be as follows:
Personal baggage and presents carried by travelers and their value not exceeding 3000 DHS or equivalent in other currencies of the Member States shall be exempted form Customs duties.
Terms and conditions for such exemption are as follows:
- Baggage and presents shall be personal and in non-commercial quantities.
- Traveler should not be a person who frequently deals with the Customs department or trades in substances in its possession.
- Number of cigarettes under exemption shall not exceeds four hundred (400) cigarettes.
Baggage and presents under exemption indicated in articles (18) and (19) herein shall be subject to provisions of ban and restriction stated in the system of the GCC Common Customs law and national legislations applicable in every Member Sate.
